[735] Then the Venerable Ānanda and Cunda the novice (samaṇuddesa) approached the Blessed One; having approached, they paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the Venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, this novice Cunda has said thus: 'Venerable sir, the Venerable Sāriputta has attained final Nibbāna (parinibbuta); this is his bowl and robe.' Moreover, venerable sir, since I heard that the Venerable Sāriputta has attained final Nibbāna, my body seems as if it were drugged, the directions are not clear to me, and the teachings (dhammā) no longer come to mind for me."
