Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 87

[87] "Good, good, Uttiya! These five cords of sensual pleasure (kāmaguṇā), Uttiya, have been declared by me. What five? Forms cognizable by the eye that are wished for, desirable, agreeable, endearing, connected with sensuality, enticing; sounds cognizable by the ear …; odors cognizable by the nose …; tastes cognizable by the tongue …; tangibles cognizable by the body that are wished for, desirable, agreeable, endearing, connected with sensuality, enticing. These, Uttiya, are the five cords of sensual pleasure that have been declared by me."
