[883] Bhikkhus, it is because these five faculties (indriya) are complete and fulfilled that one is an arahant (arahaṃ); with faculties weaker than those, one is an attainer of final Nibbāna in the interval (antarāparinibbāyī); with faculties weaker than those, one is an attainer of final Nibbāna upon landing (upahaccaparinibbāyī); with faculties weaker than those, one is an attainer of final Nibbāna without exertion (asaṅkhāraparinibbāyī); with faculties weaker than those, one is an attainer of final Nibbāna with exertion (sasaṅkhāraparinibbāyī); with faculties weaker than those, one is bound upstream, heading to the Akaniṭṭha realm (uddhaṃsoto akaniṭṭhagāmī); with faculties weaker than those, one is a once-returner (sakadāgāmī); with faculties weaker than those, one is a stream-enterer (sotāpanna); with faculties weaker than those, one is a Dhamma-follower (dhammānusārī); with faculties weaker than those, one is a faith-follower (saddhānusārī).
