[148] There is no offense (anāpatti): if, thinking, "a month of the hot season remains," he searches for a rains-cloth robe (vassikasāṭikacīvara); if, thinking, "half a month of the hot season remains," he makes it up and wears it¹; if, thinking, "less than a month of the hot season remains," he searches for a rains-cloth robe; if, thinking, "less than half a month of the hot season remains," he makes it up and wears it; if, when the rains-cloth (vassikasāṭikā) has been searched for, the rains are deferred; if, when the rains-cloth has been worn, the rains are deferred — it should be washed and laid aside, and should be worn at the proper time; if his robe has been snatched away; if his robe has been lost; in emergencies; if he is mad; if he is the first offender.
