[254] There is no offence (anāpatti): for one intent upon the meaning (atthapurekkhāra); for one intent upon the Dhamma (dhammapurekkhāra); for one intent upon instruction (anusāsanīpurekkhāra); for one who is mad; for one whose mind is deranged; for one overwhelmed by painful feeling (vedanā);¹ for the first offender (ādikammika).
