[301] "Whoever" means: whoever, of whatever sort … "Bhikkhu" means: … this is the bhikkhu intended in this sense.
"Woman (mātugāma)" means: a human female, not a female yakkha, not a female peta, not a female animal; one who is intelligent, capable of understanding what is well spoken and badly spoken, what is lewd and what is not lewd.
"More than five or six sentences" means: in excess of five or six sentences (vācā).
"Dhamma" means: that which is spoken by the Buddha, spoken by disciples, spoken by seers, spoken by deities, connected with the meaning, connected with the Dhamma.
"Should teach" means: if he teaches by the line (pada), for each line there is an offense of pācittiya. If he teaches by the syllable, for each syllable there is an offense of pācittiya.
"Except with an intelligent man present" means: setting aside an intelligent male person.
"Intelligent" means: a male person who is capable of understanding what is well spoken and badly spoken, what is lewd and what is not lewd.
