[359] Then the Blessed One, having rebuked the venerable Channa in many ways, spoke in dispraise of his being difficult to support … "And thus, bhikkhus, you should recite this training rule (sikkhāpada): 'In evasive speech (aññavādaka), there is an offense entailing confession (pācittiya).'" And thus this training rule was laid down by the Blessed One for the bhikkhus.
