[375] Now at that time, bhikkhus, having dwelt in the open air, brought their lodgings back inside quite early. The Blessed One saw those bhikkhus bringing their lodgings back inside quite early. Having seen this, and having given a Dhamma talk on that account, in that connection, he addressed the bhikkhus:
"Bhikkhus, I allow, during the eight months designated as outside the rainy season, that the lodging be stored right there in a pavilion or at the root of a tree, wherever crows or hawks do not drop their droppings."
