[458] "Whoever" (yo pana): whoever, of whatever sort … "Bhikkhu": … this one is the **bhikkhu** intended in this sense.
"Bhikkhunī" means one fully ordained in both Saṅghas.
"Together with" (saddhiṃ): in company with one another.
"Having made an arrangement" (saṃvidhāya): if he makes an arrangement, saying, "Let us board, sister"; "Let us board, noble lady"; "Let us board, noble sir"; "Let us board, sister"; "Let us board today, or tomorrow, or the day after" — there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
When the bhikkhunī has boarded and the bhikkhu boards, there is an offense of pācittiya.
When the bhikkhu has boarded and the bhikkhunī boards, there is an offense of pācittiya.
Or if both board together, there is an offense of pācittiya.
"Going upstream" (uddhagāminiṃ): going up against the current.
"Going downstream" (adhogāminiṃ): going down with the current.
"Except for crossing over to the other bank" (aññatra tiriyantaraṇāya): setting aside crossing over to the other bank.
In a village of the size that a cock can fly across, for each successive village-interval there is an offense of pācittiya. In an uninhabited region, in the wilderness, for each half-yojana there is an offense of pācittiya.
