[469]* There is no offense: if some perceptive man is present as a second; if the bhikkhu stands and does not sit; if he is not seeking privacy; if he sits with his attention directed elsewhere²; if the bhikkhu is insane; if he is the first offender. The tenth training rule is concluded. The Ovāda chapter, the third, is concluded. _____________ ¹ M(arammavācanā) reads: akkhiṃ vā nikhaṇīyamāne. ² M. reads: aññavihito. The summary thereof (uddāna): Unappointed; [after the sun] has set; the [nuns'] quarters; for material gain¹; by giving [a robe]; he sews¹; A journey; a boat; should eat²; one [bhikkhu] with one [bhikkhunī] — these are the ten. ___________________ ¹ M. reads: asammata atthaṅgatū passayāmisadānena. ² M. reads: sibbati addhānaṃ nāvaṃ bhuñjeyya ...
