[529] When the person is a member of another sect (titthiya), and the bhikkhu perceives him as a member of another sect, and he gives hard food (khādanīya) or soft food (bhojanīya) with his own hand, there is an offense entailing confession (pācittiya).
When the person is a member of another sect, and the bhikkhu is in doubt, and he gives hard food or soft food with his own hand, there is an offense entailing confession.
When the person is a member of another sect, and the bhikkhu perceives him as not a member of another sect, and he gives hard food or soft food with his own hand, there is an offense entailing confession.
If he gives water or tooth-wood (dantapoṇa), there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
When the person is not a member of another sect, and the bhikkhu perceives him as a member of another sect, there is an offense of wrong-doing.
When the person is not a member of another sect, and the bhikkhu is in doubt, there is an offense of wrong-doing.
When the person is not a member of another sect, and the bhikkhu perceives him as not a member of another sect, there is no offense (anāpatti).
