[532] **Whatever** (*yo pana*): whoever, of whatever sort … .
**Bhikkhu**: … this is the bhikkhu intended in this meaning.
**A bhikkhu** (*bhikkhuṃ*): another bhikkhu.
**"Come, friend, to a village or a town"** (*ehāvuso gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā*): a village, a town, and also a city are [reckoned as] both village and town.
**Having caused [food] to be given to him** (*tassa dāpetvā*): having caused conjey or boiled rice, hard food or soft food, to be given.
**Not having caused [it] to be given** (*adāpetvā*): not having caused anything whatsoever to be given.
**Should dismiss him** (*uyyojeyya*): wishing to laugh together with a woman, wishing to amuse himself, wishing to sit in private, wishing to engage in misconduct, he speaks thus: "Go, friend; neither talking nor sitting together with you is comfortable for me; talking or sitting alone is comfortable for me" — in dismissing him, he commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). While the other is abandoning the range of sight or the range of hearing, he commits an offense of wrong-doing. When it has been abandoned, he commits an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya).
**Making just this the reason and no other** (*etadeva paccayaṃ karitvā anaññaṃ*): there is no other reason whatsoever for dismissing him.
