[553] When he has been invited and perceives that he has been invited, if, without taking leave of an available bhikkhu, he engages in visiting families either before the meal or after the meal, except on an occasion (samaya), there is an offense entailing confession (pācittiya). When he has been invited but is in doubt, if, without taking leave of an available bhikkhu, he engages in visiting families either before the meal or after the meal, except on an occasion, there is an offense entailing confession. When he has been invited but perceives that he has not been invited, if, without taking leave of an available bhikkhu, he engages in visiting families either before the meal or after the meal, except on an occasion, there is an offense entailing confession.
When he has not been invited but perceives that he has been invited, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). When he has not been invited but is in doubt, there is an offense of wrong-doing. When he has not been invited and perceives that he has not been invited, there is no offense.
