[561] There is no offense (anāpatti): if he asks for those medicines with which he has been invited (pavārita); if he asks during those nights for which he has been invited; if he asks after explaining, "We were invited by you with these medicines, but we have need of this and this medicine"; if he asks after explaining, "The nights for which we were invited by you have passed, and we have need of medicine"; if it is from relatives; from those who have given invitation; for the sake of another; by means of his own wealth; if he is insane; if he is the first offender (ādikammika).
