[560] When something other than medicine is needed, if he asks for medicine, there is an offense of pācittiya. When one medicine is needed, if he asks for another medicine, there is an offense of pācittiya. When it is beyond that [limit], perceiving it as beyond that, if he asks for medicine, there is an offense of pācittiya. When it is beyond that, being doubtful, if he asks for medicine, there is an offense of pācittiya. When it is beyond that, perceiving it as not beyond that, if he asks for medicine, there is an offense of pācittiya. When it is not beyond that, perceiving it as beyond that, there is an offense of dukkaṭa. When it is not beyond that, being doubtful, there is an offense of dukkaṭa. When it is not beyond that, perceiving it as not beyond that, there is no offense.
