[568] "And should there be for that bhikkhu some reason (paccaya) to go to the army": there may be a reason, there may be business to be done. "That bhikkhu may stay with the army for two or three nights": he may stay for two or three nights. "Should he stay longer than that": if, when the sun has set on the fourth day, he stays with the army, there is an offense of pācittiya (āpatti pācittiyassa).
