[593] **Disrespect (anādariya)** means: there are two kinds of disrespect — disrespect toward a person and disrespect toward the rule (dhamma).
**Disrespect toward a person** means: being admonished by one fully ordained (upasampanna) with reference to what has been laid down (paññatta), he shows disrespect, thinking, "This one is suspended, or disparaged, or censured; this one's word shall go undone" — an offense of pācittiya.
**Disrespect toward the rule** means: being admonished by one fully ordained with reference to what has been laid down, he shows disrespect, thinking, "How might this be lost, or destroyed, or disappear?" — or, not wishing to train in it, he shows disrespect — an offense of pācittiya.
