[620] **New** means that for which the allowability-mark (kappa) has not been made. **Robe-cloth (cīvara)** means any one of the six kinds of robe-cloth. **One of the three means of discoloring is to be applied** means: it is to be applied even so little as with the tip of a blade of kusa grass. **Blue** means: there are two kinds of blue — bronze-blue and leaf-blue. **Mud** means: that which is found in water. **Blackish** means: anything black. **If a bhikkhu, without applying one of the three means of discoloring** means: if a bhikkhu, without having applied one of the three means of discoloring even so little as with the tip of a blade of kusa grass, uses a new robe-cloth, there is an offence of pācittiya.
