[656] When it is a caravan of thieves (theyyasattha), and he perceives it as a caravan of thieves, and, having made an arrangement, he sets out on the same journey together, even as far as the interval between villages: an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya).
When it is a caravan of thieves, and he is in doubt, and, having made an arrangement, he sets out on the same journey together, even as far as the interval between villages: an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
When it is a caravan of thieves, and he perceives it as not a caravan of thieves, and, having made an arrangement, he sets out on the same journey together, even as far as the interval between villages: there is no offense.
If the bhikkhu makes the arrangement but the people do not make the arrangement: an offense of wrong-doing.
