[743] There is no offense (anāpatti): if a bhikkhu, having picked up, or having had picked up, a treasure (ratana) or what is considered a treasure, within a monastery or within a dwelling, puts it aside, thinking, "Whoever it belongs to will take it"; if he takes what is considered a treasure on trust (vissāsa); if he takes it temporarily (tāvakālika); if he perceives it as a discarded thing (paṃsukūla); if he is insane; if he is the first offender (ādikammika).
