[173] Bhikkhus, it is impossible, there is no chance, that one possessed of bodily misconduct (kāyaduccarita) could, with that as its source, with that as its condition, on the breakup of the body, after death, be reborn in a good destination (sugati), in a heavenly world (sagga) — this is not possible. But it is indeed possible, bhikkhus, that one possessed of bodily misconduct could, with that as its source, with that as its condition, on the breakup of the body, after death, be reborn in a state of loss (apāya), a bad destination (duggati), a place of ruin (vinipāta), hell (niraya) — this is possible.
