Ekanipāta

[226] Bhikkhus, there is one dhamma which, when developed and cultivated, leads to a great sense of urgency (saṃvega), leads to great benefit, leads to great security from bondage (yogakkhema), leads to mindfulness and clear comprehension (sati-sampajañña), leads to the attainment of knowledge and vision (ñāṇadassana), leads to a pleasant abiding in the present life, leads to the realization of the fruit of true knowledge and liberation (vijjāvimutti). What is that one dhamma? Mindfulness directed to the body (kāyagatāsati). This, bhikkhus, is the one dhamma which, when developed and cultivated, leads to a great sense of urgency, leads to great benefit, leads to great security from bondage, leads to mindfulness and clear comprehension, leads to the attainment of knowledge and vision, leads to a pleasant abiding in the present life, leads to the realization of the fruit of true knowledge and liberation.
