[274] Bhikkhus, seeing two reasons (atthavasa), I resort to remote lodgings (senāsana) in forests and wilderness. What two? Seeing a pleasant dwelling for myself in this very life (diṭṭhadhammasukhavihāra), and having compassion for the generation to come. Bhikkhus, seeing these two reasons, I resort to remote lodgings in forests and wilderness.
