[377] (Pali source numbered ๑๓๑) Bhikkhus, a lay follower (upāsaka) endowed with faith (saddhā), rightly aspiring, should aspire thus: "May I become such as Citta the householder and Hatthaka of Āḷavī." This, bhikkhus, is the scale, this is the standard for my lay follower disciples, namely, Citta the householder and Hatthaka of Āḷavī.
