[438] 192. Bhikkhus, for the direct knowledge (abhiññā) of lust (rāga), two things (dhammā) should be developed. Which two? Serenity (samatha) and insight (vipassanā). Bhikkhus, for the direct knowledge of lust, these two things should be developed.
Bhikkhus, for the full understanding (pariññā) of lust ... for the utter destruction (parikkhaya) ... for the abandonment (pahāna) ... for the destruction (khaya) ... for the passing away (vaya) ... for the fading away (virāga) ... for the cessation (nirodha) ... for the giving up (cāga) ... for the relinquishment (paṭinissagga) of lust, these two things should be developed.
