[480] Bhikkhus, through the presence of three things a faithful clansman generates much merit. Through the presence of which three? Through the presence of faith (saddhā), bhikkhus, a faithful clansman generates much merit. Through the presence of something to give (deyyadhamma), bhikkhus, a faithful clansman generates much merit. Through the presence of those worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya), bhikkhus, a faithful clansman generates much merit. Through the presence of these three things, bhikkhus, a faithful clansman generates much merit.
