[555] (Pali source: §116) Bhikkhus, these three persons are found existing in the world. Which three? One easy to measure (suppameyya), one hard to measure (duppameyya), and one immeasurable (appameyya).
And which, bhikkhus, is the person easy to measure? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person is restless, haughty, fickle, garrulous, of scattered speech, muddled in mindfulness, without clear comprehension, unconcentrated, with a wandering mind (citta), with faculties unrestrained. This, bhikkhus, is called the person easy to measure.
And which, bhikkhus, is the person hard to measure? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person is not restless, not haughty, not fickle, not garrulous, not of scattered speech, with mindfulness established, clearly comprehending, concentrated, with a one-pointed mind, with faculties restrained. This, bhikkhus, is called the person hard to measure.
And which, bhikkhus, is the immeasurable person? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is an arahant, one whose taints (āsava) are destroyed. This, bhikkhus, is called the immeasurable person.
These, bhikkhus, are the three persons found existing in the world.
