[139] Bhikkhus, there are these four speakers on the Dhamma (dhammakathika). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a certain speaker on the Dhamma speaks little, and what he speaks is unconnected with the goal; and the assembly (parisā) is not skilled in what is connected with the goal and what is unconnected with it. Such a speaker on the Dhamma, bhikkhus, is reckoned simply as a speaker on the Dhamma for such an assembly. Again, bhikkhus, a certain speaker on the Dhamma speaks little, but what he speaks is connected with the goal; and the assembly is skilled in what is connected with the goal and what is unconnected with it. Such a speaker on the Dhamma, bhikkhus, is reckoned simply as a speaker on the Dhamma for such an assembly. Again, bhikkhus, a certain speaker on the Dhamma speaks much, but what he speaks is unconnected with the goal; and the assembly is not skilled in what is connected with the goal and what is unconnected with it.
