[17] Bhikkhus, there are these four ways of going along a wrong course (agati). What four? One goes along the wrong course of desire (chandāgati), one goes along the wrong course of hatred (dosāgati), one goes along the wrong course of delusion (mohāgati), one goes along the wrong course of fear (bhayāgati). These, bhikkhus, are the four ways of going along a wrong course.
Whoever transgresses the Dhamma
through desire, hatred, fear, or delusion —
his fame wanes
like the moon in the dark fortnight.
