[211] Bhikkhus, there are these four corrupters of an assembly (parisadūsana). What four? A bhikkhu, bhikkhus, who is immoral (dussīla), of evil character (pāpadhamma), is a corrupter of an assembly. A bhikkhunī, bhikkhus, who is immoral, of evil character, is a corrupter of an assembly. A male lay follower (upāsaka), bhikkhus, who is immoral, of evil character, is a corrupter of an assembly. A female lay follower (upāsikā), bhikkhus, who is immoral, of evil character, is a corrupter of an assembly. These, bhikkhus, are the four corrupters of an assembly.
Bhikkhus, there are these four adorners of an assembly (parisasobhana). What four? A bhikkhu, bhikkhus, who is virtuous (sīlavā), of good character (kalyāṇadhamma), is an adorner of an assembly. A bhikkhunī, bhikkhus, who is virtuous, of good character, is an adorner of an assembly. A male lay follower, bhikkhus, who is virtuous, of good character, is an adorner of an assembly. A female lay follower, bhikkhus, who is virtuous, of good character, is an adorner of an assembly. These, bhikkhus, are the four adorners of an assembly.
