[251] Bhikkhus, there are these four noble modes of speech (ariyavohāra). What four? Saying of what is not seen that it is not seen; saying of what is not heard that it is not heard; saying of what is not sensed (amuta) that it is not sensed; saying of what is not cognized that it is not cognized. These, bhikkhus, are the four noble modes of speech.
