[250] Bhikkhus, there are these four ignoble modes of speech (anariyavohāra). What four? Claiming to have seen what one has not seen; claiming to have heard what one has not heard; claiming to have sensed what one has not sensed; claiming to have cognized what one has not cognized. These, bhikkhus, are the four ignoble modes of speech.
