[256] Bhikkhus, there are these four bases of social solidarity (saṅgahavatthu). What four? Giving (dāna), kindly speech (peyyavajja), useful conduct (atthacariyā), and even and equal treatment (samānattatā). These, bhikkhus, are the four bases of social solidarity.
