[66] Bhikkhus, these four kinds of persons are found existing in the world. Which four? One with lust (sarāga), one with hatred (sadosa), one with delusion (samoha), and one with conceit (samāna). These, bhikkhus, are the four kinds of persons found existing in the world.
Impassioned by things that provoke lust (rāga),
delighting in pleasing forms,
base beings, bound by delusion,
they increase their bondage.
The unwise perform unwholesome action (kamma)
born of lust, born of hatred, and born of delusion too —
[deeds] attended by vexation, yielding suffering (dukkha).
People shrouded by ignorance (avijjā),
blind, without eyes —
being of just such a nature as those dhammas are,
they do not think, "We are so."
