[107] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of five qualities is worthy of gifts (āhuneyya), worthy of hospitality (pāhuneyya), worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya), worthy of reverential salutation (añjalikaraṇīya), an unsurpassed field of merit (puññakkhetta) for the world. Of which five? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is accomplished in virtue (sīla), accomplished in concentration (samādhi), accomplished in wisdom (paññā), accomplished in liberation (vimutti), and accomplished in the knowledge and vision of liberation (vimuttiñāṇadassana). Possessed of these five qualities, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality, worthy of offerings, worthy of reverential salutation, an unsurpassed field of merit for the world.
