[108] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of five qualities is worthy of gifts (āhuneyyo) … an unsurpassed field of merit for the world. Of which five? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is possessed of the aggregate (khandha) of virtue of one beyond training (asekha); he is possessed of the aggregate of concentration (samādhi) of one beyond training; he is possessed of the aggregate of wisdom of one beyond training; he is possessed of the aggregate of liberation (vimutti) of one beyond training; he is possessed of the aggregate of the knowledge (ñāṇa) and vision of liberation of one beyond training. Possessed of these five qualities, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is worthy of gifts … an unsurpassed field of merit for the world.
