[275] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of six qualities is worthy of gifts … an unsurpassed field of merit for the world. Of which six? The power of faith (saddhābala), the power of energy, the power of mindfulness, the power of concentration (samādhi), the power of wisdom (paññābala); and, with the destruction of the taints (āsava), having realized for himself with direct knowledge (abhiññā), in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind (cetovimutti) and liberation by wisdom (paññāvimutti), he enters and dwells therein. Bhikkhus, possessed of these six qualities a bhikkhu is worthy of gifts … an unsurpassed field of merit for the world.
