[125] Bhikkhus, there are these five things (dhammā) not conducive to long life (anāyussa). What five? One does what is unsuitable (asappāyakārī); one does not know moderation in what is suitable (sappāya); one eats food that is hard to digest (apariṇatabhojī); one goes about at improper times (akālacārī); and one does not live the celibate life (abrahmacārī). These, bhikkhus, are the five things not conducive to long life.
Bhikkhus, there are these five things conducive to long life (āyussa). What five? One does what is suitable; one knows moderation in what is suitable; one eats food that is easy to digest; one goes about at proper times; and one lives the celibate life. These, bhikkhus, are the five things conducive to long life.
