[163] There the Venerable Sāriputta addressed the bhikkhus … "Friends, a bhikkhu who possesses five qualities is fit to hold discussion with his fellows in the holy life. What five? Here, friends, a bhikkhu is himself accomplished in virtue (sīla), and he answers a question that has come up in talk on accomplishment in virtue; he is himself accomplished in concentration (samādhi), and he answers a question that has come up in talk on accomplishment in concentration; he is himself accomplished in wisdom (paññā), and he answers a question that has come up in talk on accomplishment in wisdom; he is himself accomplished in liberation (vimutti), and he answers a question that has come up in talk on accomplishment in liberation; he is himself accomplished in the knowledge and vision of liberation (vimuttiñāṇadassana), and he answers a question that has come up in talk on accomplishment in the knowledge and vision of liberation. Possessing these five qualities, friends, a bhikkhu is fit to hold discussion with his fellows in the holy life."
