[65] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of five qualities is fit to converse with his companions in the holy life (sabrahmacārī). What five? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is himself accomplished in virtue (sīla), and he answers questions that arise in talk concerning the accomplishment of virtue (sīlasampadā); he is himself accomplished in concentration (samādhi), and he answers questions that arise in talk concerning the accomplishment of concentration; he is himself accomplished in wisdom (paññā), and he answers questions that arise in talk concerning the accomplishment of wisdom; he is himself accomplished in liberation (vimutti), and he answers questions that arise in talk concerning the accomplishment of liberation; he is himself accomplished in the knowledge and vision of liberation (vimuttiñāṇadassana), and he answers questions that arise in talk concerning the accomplishment of the knowledge and vision of liberation. Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of these five qualities is fit to converse with his companions in the holy life.
