[64] "Bhikkhus, growing by five kinds of growth, a noble female disciple (ariyasāvikā) grows by the noble growth, and she takes hold of the essence and takes hold of what is excellent of the body. By which five? She grows in faith (saddhā); she grows in virtue (sīla); she grows in learning (suta); she grows in generosity (cāga); she grows in wisdom (paññā). Growing by these five kinds of growth, bhikkhus, a noble female disciple grows by the noble growth, and she takes hold of the essence and takes hold of what is excellent of the body.
She who grows in faith and in virtue,
in wisdom, and in both generosity and learning—
such a virtuous laywoman (upāsikā)
takes hold, right here, of the essence for herself."
