[215] Bhikkhus, there are these five dangers (ādīnava) in impatience (akkhanti). What five? One is not dear and agreeable to many people; one is full of enmity; one is full of faults; one dies confused; and with the breakup of the body, after death, one is reborn in a plane of misery (apāya), a bad destination (duggati), the lower world (vinipāta), hell (niraya). These, bhikkhus, are the five dangers in impatience.
Bhikkhus, there are these five benefits (ānisaṃsa) of patience (khanti). What five? One is dear and agreeable to many people; one is not full of enmity; one is not full of faults; one dies unconfused; and with the breakup of the body, after death, one is reborn in a good destination (sugati), a heavenly world (sagga loka). These, bhikkhus, are the five benefits of patience.
