Stinginess regarding dwellings (āvāsamacchariya), stinginess regarding families (kulamacchariya), stinginess regarding gains (lābhamacchariya), stinginess regarding praise (vaṇṇamacchariya), and stinginess regarding the Dhamma (dhammamacchariya). These, bhikkhus, are the five kinds of stinginess. Of these five kinds of stinginess, bhikkhus, this is the most contemptible, namely, stinginess regarding the Dhamma.
