[261] Bhikkhus, an assigner of meals (bhattuddesaka) possessing five qualities should not be appointed; even if appointed, he should not be sent … [an assigner of meals possessing five qualities,] having been appointed, should be sent … should be known as a fool … should be known as wise … maintains himself maimed and injured … maintains himself unmaimed and uninjured … is deposited in hell as if brought and placed there … is deposited in heaven as if brought and placed there. By what five? He does not take a wrong course out of desire; he does not take a wrong course out of hatred; he does not take a wrong course out of delusion; he does not take a wrong course out of fear; and he knows what has been assigned and what has not been assigned. Bhikkhus, an assigner of meals possessing these five qualities is deposited in heaven as if brought and placed there.
