[339] Bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu who delights in company (saṅgaṇikārāma), who takes delight in company, who is devoted to delight in company; who delights in a group (gaṇārāma), who takes delight in a group, who is devoted to delight in a group, will find delight in seclusion (paviveka) when alone: this is not possible. That one who, alone, does not find delight in seclusion will grasp the sign of the mind (citta): this is not possible. That one who does not grasp the sign of the mind (nimitta) will fulfil right view (sammādiṭṭhi): this is not possible. That one who has not fulfilled right view will fulfil right concentration (sammāsamādhi): this is not possible. That one who has not fulfilled right concentration (samādhi) will abandon the fetters: this is not possible. That one who has not abandoned the fetters will realize Nibbāna: this is not possible.
Bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu who does not delight in company, who does not take delight in company, who is not devoted to delight in company; who does not delight in a group, who does not take delight in a group, who is not devoted to delight in a group, will find delight in seclusion when alone: this is possible. That one who, alone, finds delight in seclusion will grasp the sign of the mind: this is possible. That one who grasps the sign of the mind will fulfil right view: this is possible. That one who has fulfilled right view will fulfil right concentration: this is possible. That one who has fulfilled right concentration will abandon the fetters: this is possible. That one who has abandoned the fetters will realize Nibbāna: this is possible.
