Vitakkasutta

[380] Bhikkhus, there are these three dhammas. What three? Thought of sensual pleasures (kāmavitakka), thought of ill will (byāpādavitakka), and thought of harming (vihiṃsāvitakka). These, bhikkhus, are the three dhammas. For the abandoning of these three dhammas, bhikkhus, three dhammas should be developed. What three? For the abandoning of the thought of sensual pleasures, the thought of renunciation (nekkhammavitakka) should be developed; for the abandoning of the thought of ill will, the thought of non-ill will (abyāpādavitakka) should be developed; for the abandoning of the thought of harming, the thought of non-harming (avihiṃsāvitakka) should be developed. For the abandoning of these three dhammas, bhikkhus, these three dhammas should be developed.
