[384] Bhikkhus, there are these three dhammas. What three? Discontent (arati), cruelty (vihiṃsā), and unrighteous conduct (adhammacariyā). These, bhikkhus, are the three dhammas. Bhikkhus, for the abandoning of these three dhammas, three dhammas are to be developed. What three? For the abandoning of discontent, altruistic joy (muditā) is to be developed; for the abandoning of cruelty, harmlessness (avihiṃsā) is to be developed; for the abandoning of unrighteous conduct, righteous conduct (dhammacariyā) is to be developed. Bhikkhus, for the abandoning of these three dhammas, these three dhammas are to be developed.
