[108] Bhikkhus, a man binds a woman in eight ways (ākāra). In which eight? Bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by his form (rūpa); bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by his smiling; bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by his speech; bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by his singing; bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by his weeping; bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by his deportment (ākappa); bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by a gift (vanabhaṅga); bhikkhus, a man binds a woman by touch (phassa). Bhikkhus, in these eight ways a man binds a woman. By these, bhikkhus, beings are indeed thoroughly bound — bound by a snare.
