[128] Bhikkhus, a good person, being born in a family, is born for the good, welfare, and happiness of many people: he is born for the good, welfare, and happiness of his mother and father; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his wife and children; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his slaves, workers, and servants; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his friends and companions; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his departed ancestors; for the good, welfare, and happiness of the king; for the good, welfare, and happiness of the deities; for the good, welfare, and happiness of ascetics and brahmins.
Bhikkhus, just as a great rain-cloud, bringing all the crops to maturity, is for the good, welfare … of many people, even so, bhikkhus, a good person, being born in a family, is born for the good, welfare, and happiness of many people: he is born for the good, welfare, and happiness of his mother and father; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his wife and children; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his slaves, workers, and servants; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his friends and companions; for the good, welfare, and happiness of his departed ancestors; for the good, welfare, and happiness of the king; for the good, welfare, and happiness of the deities; for the good, welfare, and happiness of ascetics and brahmins.
Truly for the good of many does the wise one dwell at home;
untiring by night and day, he first honors his mother and father
in accordance with the Dhamma, recollecting what they did for him in the past.
Established in faith, and amiable in virtue, having come to know the Dhamma,
he honors those gone forth into homelessness,
the blameless ones who live the holy life.
Beneficial to the king, beneficial to the deities,
beneficial to relatives and friends,
he is beneficial to all, well established in the true Dhamma (saddhamma).
Having removed the stain of stinginess,
he attains a blissful world.
