[273] "Bhikkhus, there are these five kinds of stinginess (macchariya). What five? Stinginess regarding dwellings (āvāsamacchariya), stinginess regarding families (kulamacchariya), stinginess regarding gain (lābhamacchariya), stinginess regarding praise (vaṇṇamacchariya), and stinginess regarding the Dhamma (dhammamacchariya). These, bhikkhus, are the five kinds of stinginess. "For the abandoning of these five kinds of stinginess, these four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) should be developed."
